    Professional Background

    A founding member of Heart and Vascular Care, Dr. Kakkar received his medical degree from the University of Delhi in New Delhi India. His internship and residency were spent at the New York Medical College. He completed his Cardiology Fellowship at the Louisiana State University followed by his Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. Dr. Kakkar is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and Society of Coronary Angiography & Intervention.

    He has authored numerous articles in interventional cardiology and has received multiple awards nationally. He is board-certified in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology. His expertise includes Interventional Cardiology, Coronary Angioplasty, Coronary Stents, Peripheral Arterial Stents, and Pacemakers. He was appointed as the Director of the new Cardiac Cath Lab at Northside Forsyth Hospital. Dr. Kakkar pioneered coronary angioplasty and stenting procedures at the Northside Forsyth Hospital and Northside Cherokee Hospital.

    Dr. Kakkar is married with three children. He enjoys participating in community functions, traveling, and spending time with his family.
