Top Doctors

We’re happy to announce that two of the fantastic physicians at Heart and Vascular Care rank among Castle Connelly’s Top Doctors. Our providers, along with the fellow nominees have been will be featured in the upcoming Top Doc issue of Atlanta Magazine in July.

Dr. Aman Kakkar and Dr. Mehul Bhatt are honored to be recognized by their peers for their attention to detail and deep experience.

Atlanta magazine announces their Top Docs annually based upon a list of top doctors selected by their peers and compiled by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., an established healthcare research company based in New York. Every year doctors are nominated for consideration through both a nationwide survey and a peer nomination process open to licensed physicians in Carroll, Cherokee, Clayton, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall, Henry, and Rockdale counties. Castle Connolly’s physician-led team of researchers then select the Top Doctors through a rigorous screening process that includes an evaluation of educational and professional experience.

A founding member of Heart and Vascular Care, Dr. Kakkar received his medical degree from the University of Delhi in New Delhi India. His internship and residency were spent at the New York Medical College. He completed his Cardiology Fellowship at the Louisiana State University followed by his Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. Dr. Kakkar is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and Society of Coronary Angiography & Intervention. He has authored numerous articles in interventional cardiology and has received multiple awards nationally. He is board certified in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology. His expertise includes Interventional Cardiology, Coronary Angioplasty, Coronary Stents, Peripheral Arterial Stents and Pacemakers. He was appointed as the Director of the new Cardiac Cath Lab at Northside Forsyth Hospital. Dr. Kakkar pioneered coronary angioplasty and stenting at the Northside Forsyth Hospital and Northside Cherokee Hospital.

Dr. Bhatt received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia after graduating summa cum laude from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. He completed his cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowships at the University of Miami / Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida, where he was honored as Chief Fellow.

Dr. Bhatt has presented his research at the American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology Scientific Sessions and has authored numerous journal articles and book chapters. He is board certified in internal medicine, general cardiology and interventional cardiology. Dr. Bhatt is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Bhatt served as the course director of the Cherokee Cardiovascular Summit. Dr. Bhatt is also the Chairman of Section of Cardiology for Northside Cherokee Hospital. Dr. Bhatt pioneered coronary angioplasty and stenting at the Northside Cherokee Hospital. His expertise includes interventional cardiology, general cardiology, advanced lipidology, and vascular medicine.
