PATIENTS WITH PERIPHERAL ARTERY DISEASE OFTEN HAVE:

  • Pain or heaviness in legs with walking
  • Infections of the leg
  • Non-healing ulcers or wounds

They often have a history of smoking, diabetes, heart attacks, coronary artery disease, stroke and high cholesterol.





PATIENTS WITH VEIN DISEASE OFTEN ALSO HAVE PAIN AND ULCERS,
BUT ALSO:

  • Bulging or varicose veins
  • Spider veins (small purple or reddish streaks on legs)
  • Leg and ankle swelling and edema
  • Leg heaviness and fatigue
  • Skin discoloration
  • Open wounds

Risk factors for vein disease includes occupations with prolonged standing, previous injury or blood clots in legs, multiple pregnancies, obesity, and family history. This condition can occur at any age.
